Global Cases Weekly (Wednesday, June 29, 2022)

The world is at the beginning of a new wave and is currently adding almost 700 K daily cases, having accumulated over 545 M confirmed cases (545,990,510) with over 6.3 M fatalities (6,333,412) at the time of this post. The top 3 nations remain the US, India, and Brazil in cumulative cases and the US, Germany, and France in this week's daily case numbers.

Regions & Countries (Cases) 

The individual regions and countries numbers are shown both as cumulative (red trace) and daily new cases (color coded by world region; thick lines are 7-day averages). We now observe a further increase in global case numbers. While some regions and countries continue their descent from the omicron peak, most regions again report increasing cases. The US also reported increased case numbers compared to last week.

In the below bar graph I am analyzing the changes in positive cases over the past week. Most regions and nations now report significant increases compared to last week, with just a few countries reporting stable or reduced case numbers. The US has slightly increased infection levels compared to last week.

Global Deaths

Unfortunately, the world keeps reporting large numbers of deaths but we may now have peaked and the situation appears to be improving globally. Over 6.3 M people have died (6,323,116) at the time of this post and the top 3 regions remain the US, Brazil, and India for cumulative deaths and the US, Taiwan, and Brazil for daily deaths.
